Great News from the Doctor

As the title indicates, my appointment with my doctor went really well. When I was first diagnosed in November, my inflammation levels were 13.6, which is pretty high. They are now 1.7. While Dr. M. says that I will never experience a day without pain, I haven’t had a flare in a few weeks. Just a little pain in my hands here and there, mainly when typing for extended periods of time. The only “bad” news of the day is that the arthritis has spread down my thumb to my wrists, but even with that, I look less swollen. Anyway, now he wants to see me every four months instead of every three months because I’ve made so much progress. I’m not complaining.

I wish I could tell you what exactly helped me get to this point, but truth is, I don’t know. It could’ve been one or a combination of different things. I’ve always felt better in warmer temperatures, so the summer weather could be the cause. It could be that it just has taken this long for my Plaquenil to kick in. Maybe the fact that I’m out of school and have more time to rest is the reason, or the fact that I eliminated meat from my diet. I really don’t know. All I know is that this was the proof I needed to convince me that I won’t have to suffer terribly for the rest of my life. It’s comforting knowing that I can do things to better my health and well being, and that I won’t have to avoid doing the things I love to do. Now I’m going to take my improved health and go work on a novel…

As the title explains, I will post my prose or poetry on a weekly basis (or whenever I feel so inclined). And to jazz things up, I’ll post some of my favorite literary quotes or favorite poems. (I just threw coffee in the title...so *annoyed face* I've gotta clean that up...with my tongue. I love coffee...)
